Power play goals jolt Devils to win over Belleville

The Binghamton Devils scored four power play goals in a 6-1 win over the Belleville Senators Friday night.

The Sens’ lone goal came through Christian Jaros while Marcus Hogberg made 18 saves before being pulled after 40 minutes in favour of Chris Driedger who gave up a goal and stopped 10 shots. Binghamton had goals from John Quenneville (2), Brandon Baddock, Michael Latta, Jacob MacDonald and Nick Lappin while Eddie Lack turned aside 16 shots for his win for the Devils.

It took the Devils just 5:26 to open the scoring as Quenneville notched his ninth of the year before the hosts doubled its lead 4:12 later through Baddock for a 2-0 lead after 20.

After Mike Blunden was sublimely denied by Lack short-handed, the Devils made it 3-0 seconds later as Latta wired a wrister past Hogberg at 7:31 of the middle frame to start a flurry of power play goals.

It was 4-0 at 11:13 through Quenneville’s second of the night before MacDonald scored 1:26 later to complete a hat-trick of second period power play goals.

Jaros got the Senators on the board at 12:54 of the third on a slap shot on the power play before Lappin rounded out the scoring with 2:03 left in regulation.

Belleville is in action again Saturday as they face Wilkes-Barre for the first time before they return home Wednesday to play three games at the Yardmen in four days. Tickets are available by clicking here.
