Senators announce exciting community initiatives for December

The Belleville Senators are pleased to announce a number of exciting community initiatives for December and the Holiday Season.

Over the course of the next month, the team will host a food drive, visit local hospitals, host a teddy bear toss and toy drive and celebrate the holiday season with its fans.

“We’re excited to announce our first wave of community initiatives throughout the Bay of Quinte,” Belleville Senators COO Rob Mullowney said. “We have said all along that giving back to our community was of paramount importance to our organization and we cannot wait to get out and meet some of our fantastic supporters while making a difference where we live.”

For Friday’s home game against the Toronto Marlies on Dec. 1, fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items upon entry to the Yardmen Arena. Fans who make a donation will be given a raffle ticket for a chance to win great Senators prizes during the game including a team autographed jersey and team autographed sticks.

On Dec. 6, Senator players will visit schools in Napanee and Deseronto to read hockey themed books to the students, sign autographs and take photos. The following day, members of the Senators organization, including some players, will take part in the Downtown Belleville Meet the Senators Event where the team will mingle with local businesses and community leaders.

On Dec. 11, players and staff will visit the Belleville General Hospital and Trenton Memorial Hospital to spend the afternoon with hospitalized patients, staff and volunteers.

On Dec. 15 the team will host the first ever Belleville Senators Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive when the Senators host the Manitoba Moose. Donations will benefit the Belleville Professional Firefighters Association Christmas Toy Drive who will in turn distribute toys across the Bay of Quinte. The following week players from the Senators will ensure any Teddy Bear donations will be allocated to specific drop-off points.

During home games on Dec. 28 and Dec. 30, the team will host a ‘Home for the Holidays’ promotion where a wide variety of prizes will be given away in-game to select fans in attendance.

During all Senator home games in December, the teams 50/50 will continue to run where half of the proceeds will be put back into the Bay of Quinte
