Senators sign Ciampini to two-way AHL/ECHL contract

The Belleville Senators are pleased to announce the signing of Daniel Ciampini to a one-year, two-way, AHL/ECHL contract.

Ciampini, 26, has appeared in 48 career AHL games, registering five goals and 12 points. Last season, he skated in 23 games with the AHL’s Ontario Reign adding a goal and four assists.

“We’re excited to have Daniel join the Senators family in Belleville,” Belleville Senators General Manager Randy Lee said. “We’re looking forward to seeing what Daniel brings to the team during our training camp and into the season.”

The Concord, Ont., native played in 28 games in the ECHL last season as well with the Manchester Monarchs at a point-per-game pace. He also added 14 points (four goals) in 18 Kelly Cup playoff games. In total, he’s scored 66 points in 76 career ECHL games.

Ciampini spent three seasons with the St. Michael’s Buzzers of the OJHL and played four collegiate seasons with Union College of the ECAC. After the 2014-15 season, where he had 50 points (26 goals) in 39 games, he was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the top NCAA Player.

In 2013-14, Ciampini helped Union College claim its first ever NCAA men’s national title after a 7-4 win over Minnesota in the final. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Ciampini will attend the Belleville Senators’ training camp, which begins on Sept. 24, at the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre.
