LaBate pens AHL deal with Belleville

The Belleville Senators have signed forward Joe LaBate to a one-year American Hockey League contract.

LaBate, 25, has spent the past three seasons in the AHL with the Utica Comets where he’s tallied 47 points (22 goals) in 145 games along with 248 penalty minutes.

A fourth round pick (101st overall) of the Vancouver Canucks in 2011, LaBate played in 13 games for Vancouver during the 2016-17 season but failed to register a point.

The Eagan, MN., native had a four-year NCAA career with the University of Wisconsin winning the WCHA title in 2012-13 and the B1G 10 championship in 2013-14 after the Badgers switched conferences. He scored 31 goals and 83 points in 150 games in the NCAA.
