Senators sign Scarfo to AHL deal for 2018-19

The Belleville Senators have signed NCAA free agent Ryan Scarfo to an American Hockey League contract for the 2018-19 season.

Scarfo has also penned an amateur tryout agreement with the Sens for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

The 24-year-old has spent the past four years at Union College of the ECAC.

“Ryan is a player we have been following for some time and we are excited to add him to our organization,” said Senators general manager Randy Lee. “His pace of play, his compete level, his offensive instincts and his effectiveness on the special teams make him a very attractive prospect to us.”

In 151 games with Union College, where he has been an alternate captain the past three seasons, Scarfo tallied 48 goals and 88 points. This past season, the North Chelmsford, MA., native led the team with 36 points and 20 goals and ranked seventh and fourth respectively in the ECAC in each category.

He spent the 2013-14 season in the BCHL with the Powell River Kings putting up 48 points (17 goals) in 50 games.

Scarfo played his freshman year at Union College alongside current Senator Daniel Ciampini and will be available for the Sens on Friday against the Toronto Marlies.
