Senators celebrate Activities in the Park with the City of Belleville

June 4, 2025

The sun is finally shining across the Quinte Region, after a bit of a wet spring, and the weather was perfect for the Belleville Sens to get out to Zwick’s Park this week for the City of Belleville’s second annual Activities in the Park event.

Activities in the Park, started last year by the city’s Community Services Department, is a way to showcase many of the city’s parks, facilities, and services, and kicks off the department’s Spring and Summer programming season. For incoming Director of Community Services Kari Lamb, the event was also a chance to kick off Recreation and Parks and Seniors Month.

“It’s such a great way for us to showcase all of the events we do and the recreation programs we offer,” said Lamb. “It’s an exciting time in the city, there’s a lot going on, so I’m excited to be here.”

The Belleville Sens were part of Activities in the Park in 2024 and brought Belly back to meet and greet young fans as well. The afternoon also included the Mayor’s Challenge Cornhole Toss, which pits Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis against other mayors from around Eastern Ontario, trying to score the highest in a bean bag toss. Belleville Sens Vice President of Business Operations John Mathers was on hand to help Mayor Ellis sharpen his skills.

The City of Belleville is, obviously, such an important partner for us, so we were proud to be able to support the second annual Activities in the Park event this week,” said Belleville Sens Vice President of Business Operations John Mathers. “It was a pleasure to team up with Mayor Ellis to help him prepare for his Mayor’s Cornhole Challenge against other mayors from across 613 Country and Eastern Ontario, and to celebrate Parks Month with Sens fans here at beautiful Zwick’s Park.”

Lamb echoed the importance of the city’s partnership with the Sens, noting that the Community Services Department and the hockey club are both here with the goal of making the City of Belleville a better place to live, work, and play.

“It really does show that it’s not just about hockey season around here, the partnership with the Senators is a year-round focus for us,” said Lamb. “But, hockey is important for us and having the Senators in our city is critical. So having them here, in the community, and giving back is absolutely important. It was nice to have Belly on stage throwing some beanbags and having some fun here in the community.”
