Zack Ostapchuk Share this Ostapchuk ready for next challenge after a storied junior career July 12, 2023 Zack Ostapchuk has always risen to the occasion. He is now ready to help make a difference with the Ottawa Senators organization. A quick glance at his resume reveals his offensive potential and ability to consistently win high-stakes games. Ever since his selection in the second round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, the power forward has remained at the forefront of the Western Hockey League with his numerous accomplishments. Ostapchuk split last season between the Vancouver Giants and Winnipeg ICE, where he registered 67 points (31 goals, 36 assists) in 55 games. His standout performances continued into the postseason as he helped Winnipeg claim the Eastern Conference Championship Series. The native of St. Albert, Alberta also showed well against international competition. He recorded two goals and one assist in seven games to capture his second consecutive gold medal with Team Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championships in Halifax. Ostapchuk is extremely grateful he is able to reflect on those significant achievements as he prepares to play professionally next season. “I think I had a pretty good junior career. I’m proud of what I was able to accomplish there. It’s nice to have those memories. But I’m looking forward to turning pro this year,” Ostapchuk said with a smile. “Obviously, in pro, it’s high-pressure situations, every game. So, playing in the World Juniors and getting those experiences, especially in those semi-final and gold medal games. It was really cool for me to play under the lights and for my country. Those experiences will definitely help me.” Now focused on the next stage of his hockey career. Ostapchuk was pleased to take part in another development camp. “You come here, and they want to turn you pro as quick as they can,” he said. “They give you all those skills through our seminars and nutrition classes. It helps you in the long run. So I know the guys love those talks. It’s been a fun week.” Although still a prospect, Ostapchuk has taken a leadership role at these events, drawing on his experiences as captain with the Giants. He is also focused on rounding out his overall game to make a push to play at the highest levels of the game. This is my third camp now,” he said. “I know what’s going on, and I like to help the guys that just came in. I guess being a captain on my junior team kind of helped me with this role. Me being one of the older guys I can show them the ropes and it’s been good.” It has become certain that anytime Ostapchuk has an opportunity to showcase his talent and character, he shines. This will undoubtedly continue to show throughout the next phase of his career. — Visit the Belleville Sens website: www.bellevillesens.com Engage with the Belleville Sens on Twitter: @BellevilleSens Like the Belleville Sens on Facebook: www.facebook.com/BellevilleSens Follow the Belleville Sens on Instagram: @BellevilleSens
