Belleville Sens acquire defenceman Dylan Blujus from Utica for future considerations

March 10, 2023

The Belleville Senators are today announcing the acquisition of defenceman Dylan Blujus, from the Utica Comets, in exchange for future considerations.

The 28-year-old from Buffalo, New York, was originally selected in the 2nd round of the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft (40th overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning and has appeared in 19 games with the Comets this season, registering five points (one goal, four assists), along with 14 penalty minutes and a plus-6 rating.

The 6-3, 203 lb defender has played a total of 357 American Hockey League games with Syracuse, Utica, Rochester and Milwaukee, putting up 100 points (23 goals, 27 assists), 216 penalty minutes and a plus-25 rating.

“Dylan is a highly regarded, character player, who has vast experience in the league,” said Belleville Sens General Manager Ryan Bowness. “He should provide leadership and a veteran presence to our prospects on the blueline and help us continue our drive towards a Calder Cup Playoff spot.”

Prior to turning pro, Blujus spent four seasons (2010-2014) with the Brampton/North Bay Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League and had 119 points (17 goals, 102 assists), 177 penalty minutes and a minus-5 rating over 256 career games.

The Senators Calder Cup Playoff stretch run continues tonight in Utica, New York against the Comets. Belleville’s three-game road trip continues Saturday March 11 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Tickets for all Belleville Sens home games are available via Ticketmaster or at the CAA Arena Box Office, with more information on group experiences, promotional packs and more, available on the Belleville Sens website.
