Game Recap

Belleville Sens beat Bridgeport to go 2-0 on road trip

December 13, 2021

The Belleville Senators scored twice in the third period coming from behind to defeat the Bridgeport Islanders 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Webster Bank Arena.

Head Coach Troy Mann was behind the bench for his 500th career AHL game. Energized in their support, Andrew Agozzino opened the scoring 33 seconds into the contest, finishing a nifty backhand pass from Parker Kelly. Belleville would lead 1 – 0 after the first period.

Despite the B-Sens’ best efforts, which included neutralizing a five-on-three disadvantage in the second period, Bridgeport held a 2-1 advantage early in the third frame after goals from Grant Hutton and Otto Koivula.

The Belleville Senators showed their resolve late after controlling significant portions of the game. Lassi Thomson broke through to fuel the comeback, tying the game at 10:01 of the third period. The Finnish defenceman would score for the second time in as many games. After a powerful drive to the net from Egor Sokolov, who used his large frame to his advantage, Cedric Pare secured the win, banking the puck of Jakub Skarek from below the goal line.

The Senators would fend off a late power play to remain perfect on the road trip.
