Belleville Sens conclude season with loss to Marlies

April 17, 2023

The Belleville Senators concluded their 2022-23 campaign with a 7-2 loss to the Toronto Marlies on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Coliseum.

Toronto opened the scoring at the 19:49 mark of the first period when Joseph Blandisi capitalized on the power play to give the Marlies a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

In the second, Toronto would continue to extend their advantage throughout the frame as Marc Johnstone, Blandisi, Alex Steeves, and Nick Abruzzese all scored, which ultimately forced a goaltending change from the Senators as Leevi Meriläinen replaced Mads Søgaard in net.

Early into the third, Belleville got on the board as Rourke Chartier notched his 20th of the campaign. However, the Marlies would strike again, this time through Semyon Der-Arguchintsev. The back-and-forth tallying would resume when Senators rookie forward Ridly Greig found the back of the net before Radim Zohorna rounded out the high-scoring affair for the Marlies with one second remaining in regulation time.
