Game Day Build-Up: Road trip rolls on in Milwaukee

October 28, 2022

Oct.28/22 @ Milwaukee Admirals

Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397

The Set-Up:

The Belleville Senators are in unfamiliar territory tonight as they hit the midpoint of their three-game road trip as the Sens visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin tonight, to take on the Admirials. It’s just the third time in B-Sens franchise history that the club has faced off against the American Hockey League affiliate of the Nashville Predators. Belleville is coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Rival Rocket in Laval on Wednesday, which saw Rourke Chartier bury the game winner with just 8.1 seconds left on the clock, while Egor Sokolov had a goal and two assists, and Kevin Mandolese stopped 31 of 33 shots to earn the win. Milwaukee, meanwhile, is coming off a wild game of their own, beating the visiting Texas Stars 6-5 in a shootout.

Previous History:

Tonight’s game is just the second that the Belleville Sens have ever played in Milwaukee, with the two teams only clashing twice in the Sens’ franchise history. Belleville has never won a game against the Admirals, losing 4-2 at CAA Arena on November 16, 2019 and 2-1 here at UW-Milwaukee Panthers Arena, on January 21, 2020.

Roster Notes:

You can add another name to the Belleville injured list, as forward Viktor Lodin was hurt prior to Wednesday’s game in Laval. Troy Mann says the Swedish sniper will likely be out six-to-eight weeks, with an ankle sprain but he’s expecting a further update once the team returns to Belleville on Sunday. Lodin joins an injured list that includes Jayce Hawryluk (four-to-six weeks, wrist), Cedric Pare (one-to-two weeks, upper body) and Phil Daoust (two-to-four weeks, shoulder), along with goaltender Antoine Bibeau (one-to-two weeks, groin). Belleville will add another ECHL call-up to help fill the void, as 27-year-old forward Jarid Lukosevicius joins the team from the South Carolina Stingrays. Lukosevicius played the last three seasons in the AHL, with Abbotsford and Grand Rapids, posting 29 poitns (17 goals, 12 assists) over 108 games.

Who to Watch:

Belleville forward Ridly Greig returned from injury on Wednesday and was able to chip in with an assist, while starting to work his way back into form. Head Coach Troy Mann says there’s another level to Greig’s game that he can still reach and with the current injured list continuing to grow, after Viktor Lodin was hurt on Wednesday, the Sens will need Greig to find his offensive touch.

Admirals winger John Leonard has helping to pace the Milwaukee offence this season, with five assists over Milwaukee’s first four games. The Ads also boast a pair of former first round picks in their lineup, including Phil Tomasino (Nashville’s 24th overall in 2019) and veteran Mark Jankowski (Calgary’s 21st overall in 2012), who has four goals and one assist in four games this season.
