Game Day Build-Up: Senators look to get back on track against Admirals on History of Hockey Night

March 25, 2023

Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397
Mar.25/23 vs Milwaukee Admirals (NHL Affiliate: Nashville Predators)

The Set-Up:

Having lost back-to-back games, following a seven-game point streak, the Belleville Senators are looking for a bounce-back performance tonight as they welcome the Milwaukee Admirals to CAA Arena for the second of two games in their short season series. Belleville is coming off a defeat at the hands of the Bridgeport Islanders last night and is still clinging onto the final playoff spot in the North Division, while the Admirals are on the other end of the spectrum. Milwaukee has won four straight games and is fighting for the top spot in the Central Division as they continue on their current five-game road trip. The Senators will also be honouring the legacy of the former Ontario Hockey League Belleville Bulls as they celebrate History of Hockey Night, featuring throwback uniforms, alumni appearances and more.

Previous History:

Like last night’s opponent, the Senators and Admirals only meet twice this season, with Milwaukee winning their earlier matchup 4-2 back on October 28 at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Tonight’s matchup is also just the fourth-ever meeting between the two teams, with Belleville yet to win against the admirals in their previous three games. The Sens are 0-2-0-0 on the road and 0-1-0-0 at CAA Arena, in the lifetime series.

Roster Notes:

Interim Head Coach David Bell will make one change to his forward group tonight, with Matthew Boucher drawing in for Jarid Lukosevicius. Defensive pairings are expected to stay the same, with Antoine Bibeau slated to get the start in goal. Full lineup information ahead of tonight’s game will be available prior to puck drop.

Who to Watch:

The Senators offensive production from the blueline has been steady of late, including Jacob Larsson, who brings a three-game point streak (one goal, two assists) into tonight’s contest. Larsson had an assist last night on fellow defender Max Guenette’s fourth goal of the season. Up front, Jake Lucchini scored last night and now has points in back-to-back games (one goal, one assist), while Roby Jarventie had his six-game point streak (four goals, three assists) halted.

Milwaukee’s Roland McKeown enters the game on a three-game point streak (one goal, two assists), while Nashville’s first-round NHL draft pick (17th overall) in 2022, Joakim Kemell has points in back-to-back games (two goals, one assist). It’s not known yet if he’s starting for the Admrials, but goaltender Yaroslav Askarov has won his last three starts. The Admirals lineup also boasts another former first-round NHL draft pick in Michael McCarron, who was selected 25th overall by Montreal in 2013.
