Game Day Build-Up: Senators at Rocket – February 26, 2022

February 26, 2022

Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397

The Set-Up:

It was a tough start to the Belleville Sens weekend trip to Laval on Friday night, falling 4-1 to the Rocket and mustering just 20 shots on goal. But, the Senators have a chance to get some quick revenge on their divisional rivals, as the two clubs finish off their mini-series at Place Bell this afternoon. Chris Wilkie had Belleville’s only goal on Friday, scoring on a breakaway after being sprung ahead by Cedric Pare, while Filip Gustavsson stopped 26 shots. Devante Smith-Pelley, Danick Martel (SH), Jesse Ylonen and Louie Belpedio (EN) all scored for Laval, with Cayden Primeau making 19 saves.

Previous History:

The B-Sens and Rocket are now onto match number nine-of-12 in the season series, with Belleville’s record on the year slipping to 5-3-0-0 and 2-3-0-0 at Place Bell. The Senators lifetime record against the Rocket is now 26-23-1-2, with a 10-15-1-0 record in Laval.

Roster Notes:

Head Coach Troy Mann has announced that Kevin Mandolese will start in goal for Belleville this afternoon, backed up by Filip Gustavsson. Max Guenette is expected to draw back into the lineup as well, with full projected lines to be released ahead of puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Senators Goaltender Kevin Mandolese brings a personal two-game winning streak into this afternoon’s game, following consecutive 36-save performances in victories over Toronto and Syracuse. The Montreal-native has played twice against the Rocket this season, picking up one win, with a 2.80 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.

Rocket Forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard is on a three-game point streak (three goals, three assists), and had an assist with three shots on goal last night. He has three assists in eight games played against the Senators this season.
