Game Day Build-Up: Senators at Rocket – November 26, 2021

November 26, 2021

Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397

The Set-Up:

It’s déjà vu all over again for the Belleville Senators as they return to Place Bell in Laval, for their third visit of the young 2021-22 American Hockey League campaign. Tonight’s game kicks off the second home-and-home series of the season between the two clubs, with Belleville looking to continue a strong run of play that has seen them win five of their last seven games. The Senators’ most recent victory was a 3-2 win in Syracuse on Wednesday, when Cedric Pare scored his first career AHL goal and Mads Sogaard turned away 21 third period shots to earn the win. Laval has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, but the Rocket haven’t played since they lost to the Senators in Belleville, 5-2 on November 20.

Previous History:

Tonight’s game is the fifth of 12 meetings between the Senators and Rocket, with the season series being split 2-2 so far. The home team has won every game of the season series to this point, but the Senators will look to buck that trend tonight. Belleville’s lifetime record against Laval is 23-22-1-2, with a 9-14-1-0 mark at Place Bell.

Roster Notes:

There’s only one change to Belleville’s lineup, from the group that hung on for a 3-2 win in Syracuse on Wednesday night. Clark Bishop will make his Belleville Sens debut, as he begins a conditioning stint from Ottawa, with Tyrell Goulbourne sitting out. Jack Dougherty, Blake Siebenaler, Kole Sherwood and Andrew Agozzino are healthy scratches. Rourke Chartier, Mitch Hoelscher and Jonathan Aspirot are all out with injuries and Mads Sogaard is expected to start again in goal.

Who to Watch:

Several Belleville Senators have collected points in back-to-back games, including Zac Leslie (one goal, one assist), Egor Sokolov (two assists), Chris Wilkie (one goal, one assist) and Maxence Guenette (one goal, one assist). Goaltender Mads Sogaard has also made two consecutive starts for Belleville and has made 63 saves over those two appearances.

For Laval, Corey Schueneman (two assists), Lukas Vejdomo (two goals, one assist) and Gabriel Bourque (one goal, one assist) are all on the verge of starting three-game point streaks of their own. Xavier Ouellet had a three game point streak snapped against the Senators last week
