Game Day Build-Up: Senators vs Americans – March 5, 2022

March 5, 2022

Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397

The Set-Up:

Coming off a disappointing 3-2 loss to the Rochester Americans on Friday night, the Belleville Senators will get a chance to get back at their divisional rivals, as the playoff push continues. The Sens and Amerks will face off again tonight at CAA Arena, to finish off their two-game weekend mini-series. Arttu Ruotsalainen was the hero for Rochester on Friday, scoring a pair of goals (including the game winner) and adding an assist. Cole Reinhardt and Andrew Agozzino counted for Belleville in the losing effort.

Previous History:

Rochester’s Friday night win drops Belleville’s lead in the season series to 3-1-1-0, with three matchups remaining, including tonight. Belleville’s lifetime record against the Amerks is 12-8-3-0, with a 4-4-3-0 mark at CAA Arena.

Roster Notes:

There are no changes to who’s in the lineup for Belleville tonight, though Head Coach Troy Mann will make one swap at centre, moving Mark Kastelic back onto a line with Cole Reinhardt and Logan Shaw, and putting Clark Bishop back with Matt Wedman and Scott Sabourin. Filip Gustavsson will start in goal again. Jack Dougherty, Cedric Pare, Max Guenette, Tyrell Goulbourne and Mads Sogaard are all out again.

Who to Watch:

Defender Michael Del Zotto tallied an assist last night and is now riding a three-game point streak (two goals, two assists) and is ranked fourth in the American Hockey League in points per game by a defenceman. Andrew Agozzino notched his 15th goal of the season on Friday and re-takes the Belleville Sens goal-scoring lead.

Arttu Ruotsalainen continues to be dominant of late and is riding a three-game point streak into tonight, with eight points (six goals, two assists) over that span. JJ Peterka is also on a three-game point streak, with an assist in each of his last three games.
