Game Day Build-Up: Senators vs Rocket – February 5, 2022

February 5, 2022

Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397

The Set-Up:

The Belleville Sens conclude the first week of a busy month against a familiar foe tonight, as the Laval Rocket visit CAA Arena. The Sens are coming off a split of a two-game set with Syracuse, following a 4-3 win over the Crunch on Wednesday and a 4-2 loss on Friday. Lassi Thomson and Cedric Pare scored for Belleville in the Friday defeat. The Rocket also lost on Friday, dropping a 3-2 overtime decision in Utica, but Laval has still managed to earn at least a point in 12 of their last 15 games. Tonight’s matchup caps a four-game road trip for the Rocket, who split a pair of games in Texas against the Stars, before the loss in Utica.

Previous History:

While the Rocket have been one of the American Hockey League’s hottest teams of late, the Senators hold the advantage in the season series with a 4-2-0-0 record. Belleville is a perfect 3-0-0 at home against Laval so far this season, outscoring the Rocket 17-7 at CAA Arena. Lifetime against the Rocket, the Sens have posted a 25-22-1-2 record, with a 15-8-0-2 advantage in Belleville.

Roster Notes:

Once again, Troy Mann will just make a couple of changes to the lineup from Wednesday. Forward Chris Wilkie will draw back in, in place of Mitch Hoelscher, while defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker will return to the lineup and Max Guenette will get the night off. Other Belleville scratches include Jack Dougherty (shoulder), Zac Leslie, Tyrell Goulbourne (personal) and Cody Goloubef.

Who to Watch:

The Senators depth forwards and defencemen have been pitching in offensively, with Cedric Pare and Lassi Thomson both scoring on Friday. Dillon Heatherington, Michael Del Zotto and Matthew Wedman all tallied earlier in the week.

On the Rocket side, Tobie Paquette-Bisson has performed the best so far this season against Belleville, putting up a goal and five assists in six games played. Lukas Vejdomo has notched a pair of goals and a couple of assists, also in six games played.
