game day Share this Game Day Build-Up: Belleville Sens begin five game road trip with visit to Milwaukee January 24, 2024 Jan.24/24 @ Milwaukee Admirals (NHL Affiliate: Nashville Predators) The Set-Up: As we move into the final week of January, the Belleville Sens (18-15-2-2) have hit the road again, beginning a five-game road trip that will take them through the first week of February. That trip begins tonight in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, against the Milwaukee Admirals (24-10-1-0), and will continue with a pair of matchups in Grand Rapids this weekend, then a visit to Syracuse for two games next weekend. The Senators enter the week of action in fifth place in The North Division (tied at 40 points with Laval) and sit just two points back of Rochester in third, and eight points back of Syracuse in second. They’ll look to try to move back up the ranks with some strong performances that stick to the rugged and hard-forechecking style that’s given Belleville its identity this season. The Admirals, meanwhile, are on a run of seven straight wins and lead the Central Division by eight points. They’re also one of the stingiest teams in the league, allowing just 90 goals so far this season. Previous History: Tonight’s matchup is just the sixth all-time between Belleville and Milwaukee, and the last of their two-game season series. The Admirals picked up a win in their first meeting of the season at CAA Arena, back in October, by a 4-1 scoreline. The Senators yet to earn a win against the Admirals, posting a lifetime, the Senators are 0-4-0-1 against the Admirals and 0-2-0-0 at the UW-Milwaukee Panthers Arena. Roster Notes: There have been no transactions for the Senators in between Saturday night’s game vs Laval and tonight. The injured list includes forwards Phil Daoust, Cole Reinhardt, Graham McPhee and Roby Jarventie. Full lineup information, including tonight’s alignment, will be available before the puck drop. Who to Watch: Belleville rookie blueliner Tyler Kleven is on the most productive stretch of his AHL career, points wise. The Fargo, North Dakota native has points in four straight games (one goal, three assists) and starting to show more confidence on the offensive side of the puck that led him to score 20 times over his NCAA career with the University of North Dakota. Angus Crookshank also has assists in back-to-back games, as well as nine shots on goal over his last two contests. The Admirals have two players riding three game point streaks into tonight’s contest in Mark Jankoski (three goals, five assists) and Zach L’Heureux (three goals, two assists), but the real key to their recent success has been in net. Both Troy Grosenick (four games) and Yaroslav Askarov (six games) are on personal winning streaks, with the tandem combining for four shutouts throughout the Admirals current win streak.
