Game Day Build-Up: Senators set to tangle with Amerks again on Food Drive Night presented by Rosebush Energies

December 2, 2023

Belleville Sens Game Day Build-Up
Dec.2/23 vs Rochester Americans (NHL Affiliate: Buffalo Sabres)

The Set-Up:

The Belleville Senators have earned points in three of four games recently and will try to tack on a couple more tonight, as they host the Rochester Americans for a rematch of their Friday night clash, at CAA Arena. Mads Sogaard made 29 saves in Friday’s shootout defeat, with Angus Crookshank and Garrett Pilon scoring for Belleville, as the Sens set a new season high for shots in a game and in one period, putting up 18 in the third. Belleville will look to keep peppering the Rochester net again tonight and use their counterattack to offset a strong Rochester transition game, much like they did on Friday, but will hope for one or two more bounces to go their way and improve the result.

Previous History:

After last night’s loss, the Senators’ lifetime record against the Amerks drops to 19-10-5-1, with an 8-5-4-1 mark at CAA Arena. This is the second of eight meetings between the clubs this season, with their next one not coming until February 2024, when Belleville visits Rochester for a pair of games at Blue Cross Arena.

Roster Notes:

Everyone managed to stay healthy in the Ottawa game at Columbus last night, so there has been no movement for Belleville on the roster front. In terms of injuries, there’s no change yet either, Cole Reinhardt, Graham McPhee, Tarun Fizer, Tyler Boucher, Phil Daoust and Brennan Saulnier all. Full lineup details, including tonight’s alignment, will be available before puck drop.

At the Rink:

Tonight is Gleaners Food Drive Night presented by Rosebush Energies, with fans being asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate at tonight’s game. All fans who donate at least two non-perishable food items will be entered into a draw for a VIP experience during Belleville’s Fan Appreciation Game in April.

Who to Watch:

Forward Roby Jarventie has made an impact in each of his first two games back from a seven-game NHL recall. The 21-year-old Finn had a goal on Wednesday and an assist last night, giving him a four-game point streak (two goals, two assists) dating back to before his NHL stint. Angus Crookshank (two goals) and Boko Imama (two assists) each have points in back-to-back games, as does Garrett Pilon, who has three points (two goals, one assist) in his last two contests.

Lukas Rousek and Linus Weissbach each have a goal and an assist over their last two games, with Weissbach scoring on Friday night at CAA Arena. In the season series with Belleville last season, Weissbach had seven points (three goals, four assists) in eight games, while Rousek had five points (one goal four assists) in seven games against the Sens in 2022-23. Jeremy Davies is also among the top-scoring defencemen in the AHL, with 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 17 games.

Follow the action:

Tonight’s game starts at 7:00 p.m. (ET) and can be seen on AHL TV and heard on the Belleville Sens Entertainment Network. Pregame coverage from the CAA Arena in Belleville, Ontario, begins at 6:50 p.m. (ET) with David Foot and Brock Ormond.
