Game Recap Share this Moose take first game of weekend doubleheader at CAA Arena December 5, 2021 The Belleville Senators were defeated by the Manitoba Moose, 3-1 in the first meeting of a weekend back-to-back at CAA Arena. Cole Reinhardt broke through to the open, scoring late in the first frame with a nifty backhander along the ice. Manitoba scored twice in the middle stanza as Cole Maier capitalized on a turnover before Austin Poganski put the Moose ahead with the man advantage. A Jeff Malott one-timer on a two-on-one opportunity 14 seconds into the third put the game out of reach. Belleville could not find an answer for Mikail Berdin late, who turned aside 26 saves in the win. Scott Sabourin came the closest to hitting the twine, but his tip was waived off for an apparent high stick. The play is unreviewable in accordance with AHL rules. Head Coach Troy Mann credited netminder Matt Murray on his performance in his Belleville Senators’ debut, in which he made 30 saves. “I thought he was very good, he made some great saves and timely saves. After an eventful week, Matt Murray was able to settle into his game, making his first start in a week and a half. “I felt pretty good. It was nice to get back out there. I haven’t been much with COVID and travel. It’s just nice to get back out there. I felt really good for the circumstances. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to get a win, but at it again tomorrow.” Mark Kastlic and Egor Sokolov played in their 50th career AHL games.
