The Rocket wasted no time getting things started, with Philippe Maillet scoring just 39 seconds into the first period. That was followed up by Nathan Légaré’s second of the preseason, just a few minutes later. Cole Reinhardt would score Belleville’s only goal of the first, at 7:39, finishing off a pass from Brennan Saulnier. Matthew Boucher, who signed a PTO with Belleville prior to the game, had the second assist on the play. The teams would trade goals in the second. Jayden Struble beat Kevin Mandolese at 3:28, before Belleville’s Boucher got one back just over a minute later. Saulnier and Donovan Sebrango assisted on the Boucher marker. Filip Mesar and Jan Mysak would add on a goal each in the third for the Rocket. Belleville begins the 2023-24 AHL Regular Season on Saturday October 14, in Hershey against the Bears.
