Sokolov shines in first AHL All-Star Classic appearance

February 7, 2023

For forward, Egor Sokolov, representing the Belleville Senators at the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic was an event filled with lifelong memories.

“I had a blast. I had a lot of fun. I think it’s pretty cool to be around the best players from different teams and get to know them and what type of people they are. I enjoyed every moment, but now back to business. The building was pumping. I had a great time. I’m thankful for this moment and the opportunity to be here.”

After participating in Inglasco Puck Control Relay, RONA Accuracy Shooting and Upper Deck Breakaway Relay at the Skills Competition a night earlier, Sokolov continued his impressive play at the Mise-o-jeu AHL All-Star Challenge on Monday evening at Place Bell, collecting three points (two goals and an assist) to lead the North Division in scoring.

With the festivities now completed, the native of Yekaterinburg, Russia is turning his focus back to the task at hand as the Belleville Senators resume their quest for a Calder Cup playoff spot this weekend against the Cleveland Monsters at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

“We have a couple of big games coming up. I think we have to stick together for one another and help (Interim Head Coach) David Bell get his first win out of the way, believe in one another, play to our identity, and see where it takes us.”
