Each of our 2026 Exit Interviews highlights a player’s season, some of their favourite moments off the ice, and their plans heading into the summer. Forward Mark Duarte was a story of perseverance throughout the 2025-26 season, starting the campaign with the Senators’ ECHL affiliate, the Allen Americans, before signing an early-season professional tryout with Belleville. Over that 25-game stretch, Duarte would show off his work ethic, grit, and determination, along with his strong hockey sense, and earned himself an American Hockey League contract for the rest of the year. The Hamilton, Ontario native would go on to score four goals and add four assists over 40 games with Belleville, adding on to the five points (three goals, two assists) that he collected over nine regular-season games in Allen. Duarte was also part of the group that headed back to Texas at the end of Belleville’s season, to help the Americans along on their ECHL Kelly Cup Playoff Run.
