Alex Barre-Boulet scored the game-winning goal with just 16 seconds left, as the Syracuse Crunch beat the Senators 2-1 on Martin Luther King Day, at the Upstate Medical University Arena. The Crunch opened the scoring at 5:44 of the first period, with former Belleville Bull Remi Elie finding the net on a power play and the Crunch outshot Belleville 18-5 in the frame, with the Senators taking two more penalties after that. Belleville would answer back with a power play marker of their own 55 seconds into the second period, courtesy of Andrew Agozzino, his 10th goal of the season. That would be all the scoring until Barre-Boulet’s late winner. Mads Sogaard stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced for Belleville, while Syracuse’s Hugo Alnefelt turned away 23 of 24 shots to earn the win and was named the game’s first star.
