From grassroots programs to in-arena recognition, the Belleville Senators continue to play an active role in supporting hockey at the local level throughout the Quinte region.

Whether it’s connecting young players in local minor hockey associations with professional role models, sharing the results of our local junior teams during home games, or contributing time and resources to community initiatives, the Senators remain committed to growing the game across the Bay of Quinte, beyond the ice at CAA Arena.

Throughout the season, Senators players, coaches, and staff regularly engage with local hockey organizations, reinforcing the importance of development, inclusivity, and community connection. These efforts help strengthen the pathway from minor hockey to higher levels of the game, while also ensuring young athletes feel seen and supported.

The Senators are also committed to keeping the tradition of junior hockey in the Bay of Quinte strong, adding Senators and “support local hockey” rink boards around the community, that proudly feature the logos of the Wellington Dukes, Trenton Golden Hawks, Frankford Huskies, and Picton Pirates. The Sens will also welcome those teams to CAA Arena for matchups throughout the season.

“As the Bay of Quinte’s professional hockey team, supporting local hockey is a responsibility we take seriously,” said Belleville Senators Vice President of Business Operations John Mathers. “We’re proud to help create opportunities for young players to develop, feel connected to the game and our club, and to see a pathway forward. The strength of our organization is directly tied to the strength of our hockey community, and we’re committed to continuing that support throughout the season and beyond.”

As the season continues, this page will be updated with the latest examples of how the Belleville Senators are giving back to local hockey — celebrating the programs, players, and partnerships that make the sport thrive in our community.

On December 8, rookies Landon Hookey and Tomas Hamara took part in the Belleville Bearcats First Shift skate at the Mackay Insurance Arena inside the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre. They helped beginner-level players learn some basics and played a game of giant-on-ice tag!

On December 12, Jake Chiasson and Wyatt Bongiovanni joined the U9A Belleville Bearcats for a skate at World Elite Training on Bell Boulevard in Belleville, helping run drills and getting to know the players.

On December 17, Jorian Donovan, Jamieson Rees, and Oskar Pettersson stopped by two Quinte West Minor Hockey practices to help out the coaching staff and share their knowledge. They also played a spirited scrimmage, with the three Senators and a young goalie taking on close to 20 players on the other side, at one point.

The Golden Hawks lead the best-of-seven series 2-0

Game 1- Muskies 2 @ Golden Hawks 7

The Trenton Golden Hawks did what defending champions need to do, and that’s take command of a series early, dumping the Lindsay Muskies 7-2 in Game 1 of their OJHL Quarterfinal Series on Friday at home.

The Hawks took flight in the series on two goals and five points from Lucas Digiantommaso and three from Jamie Darlison.

Daylen Moses, Duncan Schneider and Kale Mace also counted for Trenton, and Hayden Jeffery made 18 stops.

Game 2- Golden Hawks 4 @ Muskies 3

Game 2 of the OJHL Conference Quarterfinal Series went right down about as close to the wire in regulation as possible before the Trenton Golden Hawks came away victorious, 4-3.

One of the most exciting plays in hockey, the penalty shot, took centre stage, and it was Hayden Jeffery who came up massive in the one-on-one showdown with one second left in the game.

20-plus regular season goal scorer Ethan Kindree provided the opposition, skating in slowly in an attempt to lull Jeffery before snapping a shot to his glove for one of the Grimsby product’s 26 saves.

Isaiah Shantz scored twice in the affair, with Jack Ziliotto and Beckett Ewart adding singles.

Game 1- Dukes 3 @ Panthers 6

Tough penalties taken by the Wellington Dukes burned them in Game 1 versus the Pickering Panthers.

The ‘Cats scored twice on the powerplay and withstood the pesky Dukes in a 6-3 victory on Friday night.

Game 2- Panthers 3 @ Dukes 1

It was a Game 2 full of heart and emotion for the Wellington Dukes, but unfortunately, not a winning one.

The goal was the Toronto native’s third of the postseason as part of a game where the Panthers inundated Dryden Riley with 47 more shots in the Wellington crease (48 total).

#5 PICTON PIRATES 4 #4 AMHERSTVIEW JETS 3

A thrilling and controversial series between Prince Edward County and Lennox & Addington County had it all – great goaltending, high tempo, lots of physicality, a dramatic late-game comeback and even a little bit of controversy, topped off by a 3-1 series comeback courtesy of the Picton Pirates.

Game 1- Jets 2 @ Pirates 1

Picton got a yeoman’s-like goaltending performance from Nolan Lane, but the Pirates offence was left wanting more after Game 1.

Amherstview notched a pair of second period goals and withstood a 15-shot Pirates barrage in the third to hold on.

Gerrit Kempers struck 21 seconds into the third on a powerplay from Keenan Wiles and Luc Amat, but the Pirates could get no closer.

Lane finished with 45 saves.

Game 2- Pirates 4 @ Jets 1

Picton rebounded nicely from that tough Game 1 loss to knot the series on the strength of a 29-save effort from Lane.

Cole Stevenson picked up a goal and an assist on the game, with Liam Rice, Keenan Wiles and Luc Amat adding single tallies.

Ben Smith, Colby Leaver, Gerrit Kempers and Mathieu Petrut registered assists as well in the win.

Game 3- Pirates 1 @ Jets 4

The Jets broke away late to re-take the series lead from the Pirates.

Cole Stevenson earned his second goal of the series from Luc Amat and Gerrit Kempers on a powerplay midway through the third.

Nolan Lane made 34 saves in the defeat.

Game 4

The Pirates appeared to have tied the series score with a 5-4 victory in Game 4 on Thursday night at home, but some controversy interfered.

Following that game, the PJHL released a notice on social media saying the Pirates win would be forfeited due to what was described as an ‘ineligible player.’

The Jets, as a result, were awarded a 5-0 win by forfeit and a 3-1 series lead.

A statement from the Pirates can be found on its Facebook page.

Game 5- Pirates 4 @ Jets 0

Smith scored twice and Lane posted a 21-save shutout as Picton took out its frustration on the overturned result out on the host Jets Sunday night.

The Pirates kept the Amherstview crowd tame with strong defensive play and a pair of goals in the first half of the opening period from Isaiah More and Keenan Wiles.

Nate Woods, Gerrit Kempers, Tyler Braund and Cole Mulder added assists.

Game 6- Jets 3 @ Pirates 5

The Picton Pirates needed a dramatic comeback late in the third period to save their PJHL season last night.
Down 3-1, Picton rattled off four unanswered goals in the final 2:46 to win Game 6 5-3, with Cole Stevenson netting the winner with 53 seconds left in front of a charged-up Picton crowd.
Keenan Wiles, Luc Amat, Gerrit Kempers and Liam Phillip all found the back of the net for Picton.
Nolan Lane stood tall at key moments to keep his team’s season alive, making a total of 23 saves as Picton doubled Amherstview in shots 51-26.

Game 7- Pirates 3 @ Jets 2

Game 4- Huskies 2 @ Thunder 0

Parker Robbins made it known that he didn’t want his 2025-26 hockey season to end on Friday night.

The Trent Hills Thunder netminder nearly single-handedly kept his team alive with a 47-save gem, but the Huskies squeezed out a 2-0 victory to sail on to Round 2.

Grimmon’s goal about a minute into the third stood as the winner, before Turney iced the series win with an empty-netter.

Boyer was less busy, but still earned his second shutout of the series, kicking away all 15 Trent Hills shots.

TOD DIVISION SEMIFINALS

#2 FRANKFORD HUSKIES 2 #3 NAPANEE RAIDERS 0

Game 1- Raiders 4 @ Huskies 5 (OT)

Riley Grimmon starred in a Frankford Huskies come-from-behind victory to steal Game 1 away from the Napanee Raiders.

The Huskies traded goals with Napanee, getting one each from Ty McCambridge, Ryan Foley and Deke Osterhout.

The result spoiled a hat trick effort from Mason Goodfellow for the Raiders. Andrew Carr added the other goal shorthanded.
