game day Share this Game Day Build-Up: Senators look for more points in Manitoba to finish road trip December 7, 2024 Belleville Senators Game Day Build-Up Dec.7/24 @ Manitoba Moose (NHL Affiliate: Winnipeg Jets) The Set Up: The Belleville Senators’ flair for the dramatic has continued through their five-game road trip but has evolved from shootouts to comebacks. After going to six shootouts in the early months of the season, Belleville has erased multi-goal deficits in both of its last two games and came back to win, improving their overall record on the season to 10-4-0-4, with a near league-best .800 points percentage on the road. The comeback dramatics have also added a sense of confidence to a Belleville team that has won three games in a row for the first time this season and seeing some consistent performances on both sides of the puck, going four straight games with more than 30 shots for and less than 30 shots against. Even with that confidence, the Senators will have to stay sharp tonight as the Moose will likely be the ones on the hunt for revenge, after giving up a three-goal lead on home ice in Belleville’s 6-3 Friday night win. Previous History: Belleville’s win in Friday’s season-series opener improved their lifetime record against Manitoba to 17-14-4-0, and an impressive 9-5-3-0 record on the road in Winnipeg. The season series moves back to CAA Arena in Belleville, where the Senators are 8-9-1-0 against the Moose, on February 26 and February 28. Roster Notes: There have been no other transactions recorded for the Senators since defender Nickolas Matinpalo was recalled to the NHL earlier in the week. Forwards Zack Ostapchuk and Cole Reinhardt also remain with the parent club in Ottawa, who get set to take on the Nashville Predators at home tonight. Defenceman Donovan Sebrango returned to the Belleville lineup from his first NHL recall last night and had an assist. Jan Jenik and Hayden Hodgson remain on the injured list, while goaltender Mads Sogaard is working his way back to full health. A full list of up-to-date transactions can be found by clicking here, with full lineup details available via the B-Sens social channels (@bellevillesens) before the game. Who to Watch:  Forward Keean Washkurak was a significant piece in Belleville’s Friday night win, notching the game-winning goal, along with an assist and some bone-crushing hits. The 23-year-old from Waterloo, ON has collected all four of his points this season over two games. His goal last night was the 50th of his AHL career. Meanwhile, Angus Crookshank and Stephen Halliday are both on four-game point streaks with two goals and two assists over that span. Wyatt Bongiovanni is on a three-game point streak (two goals, two assists), and Garrett Pilon has points in back-to-back games (one goal, two assists). For Manitoba, forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan has picked up points in back-to-back games, collecting a goal and an assist last night, with a helper in his previous game. Fellow forward Chaz Lucius, Winnipeg’s 18th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft had a goal and an assist, plus four shots on Friday, while defender Elias Salomonsson had two assists.
