Game Recap

Belleville Sens dump Rocket in back-end of home and home

November 28, 2021

An Andrew Agozzino hat-trick helped the Belleville Senators to extended their winning streak to four straight on Saturday night, defeating the Laval Rocket, 7-3 at CAA Arena. The win also secured the Senators six points over their three games this week.

Along with the team success, it was a memorable week for the alternate captain, who was playing in his first game back since the birth of his son earlier in the week.

Egor Sokolov, Jake Lucchini, Maxence Guenette, and Scott Sabourin also tallied for Belleville, who tied a season-high scoring seven goals on the night, as netminder Kevin Mandolese made 35 saves in the victory.

Kevin Roy, Tobie Bisson and Brandon Baddock scored for the Rocket.

Agozzino opened the scoring just over a minute into the contest, redirecting a pass from Pontus Aberg. After forcing a neutral zone turnover, the second frame saw Laval tie the game on a 3-on-1 opportunity on which Kevin Roy made no mistake capitalizing. Belleville regained the lead before the intermission through Agozzino’s second and an Sokolov wrister from the far circle, which stretched his point streak to four games. The B-Sens would strike four more times in the third period to seal the win.

Head coach Troy Mann cited the building of chemistry and a strong mentality as key aspects in their recent run of strong performances.

“We talked this morning at our team meeting about getting a little selfish; obviously when you get the first four points of the week, you need to get a little bit selfish and dig in and finish it off. It’s always difficult to beat a team back-to-back, and we were able to come out tonight. I really liked our energy, and I liked our game tonight, felt real good as the first period progressed that the guys were engaged and wanted the game. Obviously, when you get to .500, which is a step we talked about yesterday now, the next goal is to get above .500, so we were able to do that this week. I certainly think the team’s progressing. Obviously, it was nice to get some bodies back last week. I do feel that there is some chemistry building.”

Reminiscent of Friday night, twelve Senators once again found their names on the scoresheet. Agozzino (3G, 1A) and Lucchini (1G, 3A) led the offensive charge on the night with four points each. Blueliner Dillon Heatherington has collected six assists in his past two games.
