Game Recap Share this Belleville Sens suffer back-to-back losses to Manitoba December 6, 2021 The Belleville Senators were left looking for answers to their stagnant offence as they fell 2-0 to the Manitoba Moose on Sunday afternoon at CAA Arena. Despite their recent troubles, now being shut out twice in their previous three contests, the Senators have been able to keep pace with strong defensive play and goaltending. Mads Sogaard played well, turning aside 26 shots in this contest. Declan Chisholm opened the scoring in the first period for Manitoba off a power-play tally. Todd Burgess’ quick release from the slot in the second stanza would prove enough scoring as rookie netminder Arvid Holm made 22 saves to earn his first career AHL shutout. Belleville Senators’ Assistant Coach David Bell touched on this afternoon’s game, and the team’s scoring struggles postgame. “You have to score to win, and we didn’t score, or have any real good looks, probably in the second half of the game. That’s deflating and disappointing. But, overall, I don’t think we gave up a whole bunch. Just disappointing we couldn’t put a push together in the second half of the game.” He says the Senators need to work harder to get to the front of the net, to find offensive success. “Being on the perimeter, you can’t score. You can’t score when the goalie can see the puck and I think we probably lead the league in shots blocked (by opponents), so clearly we take too long to get our shots off. Those three are not good combinations.” Post Game reactions from Assistant Coach David Bell and highlights are available at the links below: David Bell Postgame Availability – Dec. 05/21 Game Highlights You can click here to see the full box score from Sunday afternoon.
