Game Day Build-Up: Senators vs Wolf Pack – April 13, 2022

April 13, 2022

Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397

The Set-Up:

Another week has gone by and once again, the Belleville Senators are battling to get back into the 2022 Calder Cup Playoff race. After sitting in sixth a week ago, the Sens climbed back into the playoff picture, following a pair of wins over the Utica Comets, only to drop back-to-back decisions to Rochester and Laval, and be once again on the outside looking in for the time being. They can help their cause with a win tonight against the visiting Hartford Wolf Pack, who are also trying to solidify their place in the Atlantic Division playoff race and are continuing a seven-game road trip, following stops in Providence, and three games in Charlotte. With eight games to go, this will be the last non-divisional opponent that the Belleville Sens face this season.

Previous History:

This meeting between the Belleville Sens and Wolf Pack is the last of their four-game season series. Belleville is looking to improve its 2-1-0-0 record against Hartford this season, while the Wolf Pack are looking to salvage a split of the season set, after losing twice to Belleville at home and winning at CAA Arena on March 19. Belleville’s lifetime record against Hartford is 7-2-0-0 and 2-2-0-0 at home.

Roster Notes:

Troy Mann will shuffle his lines but won’t be making any substitutions with his forward group, or defence corps. Viktor Lodin will play on the top line with Andrew Agozzino and Roby Jarventie, Cole Reinhardt joins up with Logan Shaw and Egor Sokolov, with Jake Lucchini playing alongside Mark Kastelic and Zach Senyshyn. There are no changes to Belleville’s fourth line, or defence pairings, with Filip Gustavsson getting his sixth straight start.

Who to Watch:

Forward Zach Senyshyn is still looking for his first goal in a Belleville uniform, but had found some success against Hartford, while playing with Providence earlier in the season. Senyshyn has three points (one goal, two assists) in nine games against the Wolf Pack in 2021-22. Jake Lucchini is Belleville’s next-highest point-getter against Hartford, with three assists in three games, while Jonathan Aspirot has scored two of his five goals this season versus the Wolf Pack.

Hartford’s lineup boasts the leading shot-taker in the American Hockey League, Anthony Greco (226), who also has four points (three goals, one assist) in three games against the Senators this season. Tanner Fritz, Matt Lorito and Mike O’Leary all each have a goal and an assist in three games against Belleville, as well.
