Game Day Build-Up: Belleville Sens bet big league treatment hosting Laval at Canadian Tire Centre

February 12, 2025

Belleville Senators Game Day Build-Up
Feb.12/25 vs Laval Rocket (NHL Affiliate: Montreal Canadiens)

The Set Up:

The Belleville Senators are getting the big league treatment today as they prepare for an important North Division rivalry game against the Laval Rocket, at the Canadian Tire Centre, home of Belleville’s National Hockey League parent club, the Ottawa Senators.

It’s the first non-COVID-era regular season game the Belleville Sens have played at the CTC, since the Senators moved their AHL affiliate to the Friendly City in 2017. During the “bubbled” 2020-21 campaign, the Sens played 18 games at the big rink, splitting the series with 9 wins and 9 losses at home.

The Sens will aim to get back to form after a tough 3-2 overtime loss in Utica last Saturday night, placing the team six points out of a playoff spot with five games in hand on fifth-place Syracuse. Meanwhile, Laval comes in as one of the hottest teams in the AHL, riding a 7-game winning streak, a 9-1 stretch in their last ten games, and having just supplanted Rochester by one point to claim first place in the North division.

Previous History:

Tonight is the sixth of ten games that the Sens and Rocket will play this season, with Belleville holding a 2-2-0-1 record in the season series so far. Belleville is 46-34-2-5 over 87 contests in the season series. The teams will meet again in Laval on Saturday, March 1st.

Roster Notes:

Forward Cole Reinhardt was returned to Belleville on Sunday after a week up with Ottawa. You can click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions, with lineup details available via the B-Sens social channels (@bellevillesens), ahead of game time.

Who to Watch:

Belleville forward Stephen Halliday continues to lead the team in points, and despite not finding the scoresheet last weekend, the 22-year old is coming off a terrific stretch of eight points in five games prior to that. Halliday was an offensive force in the team’s first two games against Laval back in November, notching a goal and two assists.

Laval forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard comes into the game on a season-high five game point streak, with a goal and five assists in that undefeated span for the Rocket. The 26-year old has only played three games against Belleville this year, but did score one of his five goals in the Rocket’s most recent game against Belleville, a 2-1 win on December 20th at Place Bell.
