game day Share this Game Day Build-Up: Senators swing through to Toronto to complete home-and-home with Marlies February 15, 2025 Belleville Senators Game Day Build-Up Feb.15/25 @ Toronto Marlies (NHL Affiliate: Toronto Maple Leafs) The Set Up: As another significant winter weather event bears down on Southern Ontario, a storm will likely be brewing inside the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, where the Belleville Senators will clash again with the Toronto Marlies this afternoon. The Senators exploded for five goals at CAA Arena on Friday night and hung on for a 5-3 victory, giving them victories in back-to-back games for the first time since December and extending their home win streak to four games. This afternoon, the Senators will look to keep up their pressure and pace for 60 minutes, and not let Toronto build momentum late in the game. Still sitting five points outside the North Division playoff picture, a victory today is worth far more than just bragging rights between provincial rivals. Previous History: Belleville’s win last night improved their record against Toronto this season to 3-2-0-1, with a 1-1-0-0 mark at home and 2-1-0-1. Friday’s victory was Belleville’s 40th all time against Toronto, to improve that record to 40-34-2-5. In their lifetime on the road against the Marlies, the Senators are 21-15-2-2. Roster Notes: No changes for Belleville roster-wise this afternoon, with no transactions reported and nobody added or removed from the injured list. The Senators injured players include goaltenders Malcolm Subban and Mads Sogaard, and forwards Tyler Boucher and Xavier Bourgault. You can click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions, with lineup details available via the B-Sens social channels (@bellevillesens), ahead of game time. Who to Watch: Senators Captain Garrett Pilon was a force for the Senators last night, scoring, adding an assist and putting a pair of shots on net, while skating to a +4 rating. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native has points in back-to-back games (one goal, three assists), as do Wyatt Bongiovanni (one goal, two assists), Max Guenette (one goal, one assist), Stephen Halliday (three goals), Filip Roos (two assists), and Sam Gagner (four assists). Defenceman Donovan Sebrango has scored in three straight games, while forward Angus Crookshank has picked up four points (one goal, three assists) over a three-game point streak of his own. Goaltender Leevi Merilainen has made four straight starts and won his last two games. Marlies forward Roni Hirvonen was the most noticeable skater for Toronto at CAA Arena on Friday. the 23-year-old from Espoo, Finland had a goal and two assists last night, and has four points (two goals, two assists) over his past two games. Meanwhile, a couple of regular goal scorers have been eerily silent for Toronto of late, with Alex Steeves pointless in three games, despite being tied for fourth in AHL scoring (41 points) and leading the league in goals (26). Joseph Blandisi (two goals, one assist), Dakota Mermis (two assists), Nikita Grebenkin (two assists), and William Villeneuve (one goal, one assist) all have points in back-to-back games.
