game day Share this Game Day Build-Up: Belleville Sens begin five-game road swing in Syracuse November 27, 2024 Belleville Senators Game Day Build-Up Nov.27/24 @ Syracuse Crunch (NHL Affiliate: Tampa Bay Lightning) The Set Up: As we hit the American Thanksgiving weekend, the Belleville Senators have left the comforts of home behind them. They will play their next five games away from CAA Arena, beginning tonight in Syracuse against the Crunch. The road trip comes as the Senators look to try and create some space in the middle of the North Division standings, where they sit a point ahead of Syracuse and one back of Rochester. However, Belleville has played just 14 games so far this season, the fewest in the North and the AHL, meaning they’ve got plenty of time to gather more points and set themselves apart in the division. And while the Senators haven’t played a pile of games early, they’ve already had a bunch against the Crunch and are looking to get some revenge on Syracuse for a 4-1 defeat at home last week. Previous History: Tonight’s matchup already marks the fifth of eight games in the season series between Belleville and Syracuse, with the Crunch holding the advantage. The Senators are 1-2-0-1 against the Crunch this season, with a 1-0-0-1 mark at the Upstate Medical University Arena. Lifetime against Syracuse, Belleville is 21-18-2-3, with a record of 7-10-2-3 on the road. Roster Notes: There are a few transactions to pass along ahead of tonight’s game. Defender Donovan Sebrango was recalled to Ottawa this week and could make his National Hockey League debut with the NHL Sens on their West Coast Road trip. Defender Djibril Toure has been recalled from Orlando (ECHL) to give Belleville some support on the back-end, while forward Zack MacEwen was assigned to Belleville from Ottawa and is would play his first AHL game of the season tonight, if he gets in the lineup. The Senators will also be without forward Cole Reinhardt, who was recalled to Ottawa last week and scored his first NHL goal against Calgary on Monday night. A full list of up-to-date transactions can be found by clicking here, with full lineup details available via the club’s social channels (@bellevillesens) before the game. Who to Watch: Xavier Bourgault was the only Senator to find the net last Saturday against Laval, as he notched his third goal of the season and had three shots on goal. The 22-year-old from Quebec has alternated games with points over his last seven matchups. Fans will also likely have an eye on Zack MacEwen tonight, should he play, in his return from the NHL. MacEwen, who will wear #17 for Belleville (Stephen Halliday will switch to #34), has three points in 19 games with Ottawa this season, and had seven points in 10 games with Belleville in 2023-24. Syracuse rookie Dylan Duke is on a three-game point streak (one goal, two assts) and had a goal and an assist last Saturday in a loss to Hershey. The 21-year-old from Strongsville, Ohio, is among Syracuse’s points leaders this season and has three points (one goal, two assists) in four games against Belleville this season.
