Game Recap

Sens beat Bridgeport in return home from road trip

November 14, 2021

A Roby Jarventie deflection proved to be the difference Saturday night as the Belleville Senators defeated the Bridgeport Islanders, 3-2 at CAA Arena.

Cody Goloubef and Chris Wilkie also found the back of the net in their B-Sens’ season debuts, while Mads Sogaard turned in a first-star performance stopping 32 of 34 shots. Arnaud Durandeau and Austin Czarnik tallied for Bridgeport as Cory Schneider made 24 saves in defeat.

It was Belleville’s first home game since October 29, as the Sens returned from a five-game road trip that included losses in Toronto, Rochester and Laval and a double-header sweep the Monsters in Cleveland. The Senators win also snapped Bridgeport’s three-game point streak.
Head coach Troy Mann spoke to his team’s resolve, after the organization was involved in over two dozen total transactions within the last week. The moves came as the parent club in Ottawa continues to deal with several players placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. “With the amount of adversity we have faced here for a number of weeks, but specifically the last couple of weeks, I thought our team competed hard from start to finish.”

Belleville’s continuous roster shuffle saw forward Chris Wilkie, acquired from the Rockford IceHogs in exchange for future considerations this afternoon. Defencemen Chaz Reddekopp, Blake Siebenaler, Cole Fraser, and Cody Goloubef were all inked to PTO in the last 48 hours.

Other notables for Belleville on Saturday included Tyrell Goulbourne (back) and Philippe Daoust (elbow) returned from the injury list and Cedric Pare collected his first career AHL point.
