Sens can’t stop Marlies in Toronto

October 30, 2021

The Belleville Senators could not draw even in a rematch affair at Coca-Cola Coliseum on Saturday afternoon, as they fell 5-2 to the Toronto Marlies for the second consecutive evening.

Belleville was outshot heavily in the first period, but rebounded to keep the game close, until the Marlies pulled away in the third.

Kristians Rubins, Alex Steeves (2), Josh Ho-Sang and Bobby McMann scored for the Marlies, while Joseph Woll turned aside 20 shots in the victory. Mark Kastelic scored his first of the season and Jake Lucchini tallied his fourth of the campaign for Belleville, while Kevin Mandolese made 33 saves in his fourth straight start in net.

The Senators continue to deal with a rash of injuries with Mads Sogaard, Lassi Thomson, Rourke Chartier, Tyrell Goulbourne, Jonathan Aspirot, Roby Jarventie and Mitchell Hoelscher and Colby Williams all on the IR.

The team will provide a full injury report on Tuesday.

To deal with the roster holes, the Senators signed centre Kameron Kielly, who had been with the team through training camp, to a professional tryout agreement this morning and recalled blueliner Xavier Bernard from their ECHL affiliate, Atlanta Gladiators both made their AHL debuts.

On Wednesday, the B-Sens continue on their string of road games versus the Rochester Americans but return home to host the Bridgeport Islanders for a 7:00 PM puck drop on Saturday, November 13th.

Single-game tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster by stopping by the CAA Arena Box Office. Season Ticket Memberships and Flex Packs are also available, with more information available at bellevillesens.com.
