WELLINGTON DUKES

Friday, October 16, 2026

DUKES – 6 @ MUSKIES – 2

Four unanswered third period goals helped the Wellington Dukes hook the Lindsay Muskies 6-2 on Friday night.

Two more new players had heavy hands in contributing to the win, with Zach Anderson (one goal, two assists) and Landen Anderson (two helpers) factoring in on the scoresheet.

The two unrelated Andersons connected with Blake Berthiaume for Zach Anderson’s third of the year to open the scoring less than four minutes into the contest, before Jackson Bathgate answered for Lindsay.

The Andersons teamed up to find Justin Doak for a powerplay goal halfway through the second, but the ‘Fish’ kept chipping away and wound up with the tying marker off Egor Kozlov’s stick in the final minute to make the game a tossup going into the third.

That’s when Wellington took off, getting the game-winner on a re-direction and an insurance marker from Kasen Beitz, the lucky #13th goal of the season from Landon Marleau and another add-on tally from Berthiaume.

Jayden Levesque added two assists, while Zach Anderson, Presley Kelly, Marco Wolf, and Zach Mascard added one.

Dryden Riley posted another win with 27 saves as Wellington outshot Lindsay 42-29.

DUKES – 5 vs ROYALS – 4

A battle of wills between the top two teams in the East was waged on Sunday night at the Duke Dome and it was the upstarts from Wellington that emerged victorious.

Cole Mulder slid home his own rebound for his first OJHL goal and the game-winner late in the third to help the Dukes pull out a thrilling 5-4 victory over the #1 seed Markham Royals.

The 6-5, 230-pound defenceman’s clutch goal came with 5:26 left in the third and was the catalyst to giving Wellington its 10th victory of the season and handing Markham just its third defeat of the still young season.

Markham controlled the bulk of the first period, but the Dukes managed to come out of the frame tied thanks to a Jayden Levesque shorthanded goal while falling forward, evened by a Chance Adams equalizer.

Landen Anderson cracked home his first OJHL goal on a rebound opportunity and Landon Marleau started off a three-point night with a strike off a faceoff less than a minute later to give Wellington a multi-goal lead.

Markham’s high-powered offence kicked into another gear as the period went on, scoring three unanswered through Dylan Charnley, Yegor Staiko and Athan Miwa to take a 4-3 lead into the break.

Zach Mascard’s dogged forechecking enabled a turnover that led to a slick finish for his team and league-leading 15th of the year to even the score at four at the halfway mark of the third, setting the stage for Mulder’s winner.

The Dukes defenceman took a handoff from Blake Berthiaume and drove the net, getting stopped by Jacob Ceranic with the paddle, before stuffing home the second try for the big winner.

Wellington warded off Markham’s late desperation attack to claim the win, goaltender Mason Raycroft’s first in the OJHL with a 27-save effort.

DUKES – 4 @ COUGARS – 9

The resurgence of the Cobourg Cougars was on full display Monday night.

A powerful offence overseen by former Wellington Dukes captain and coach Derek Smith poured a bucketful of pucks into the Wellington net for a 9-4 trouncing in the two teams’ first meeting of the 2026-27 OJHL season.

The two teams ping-ponged goals back-and-forth in the first period twice, with the visiting Dukes starting off on the wrong foot with an early penalty and a goal against on the ensuing powerplay on a backhand goal in tight from Jonny Brooks.

Wellington kept pressing and got the equalizer through its most prolific triggerman, Landon Marleau, who skinned the ice with a one-timer teed up by Marco Wolf and Brandon Mann.

After Cobourg’s Brant Romaniuk beat Riley through the legs, Justin Doak scrummed home a four-on-four goal for his fourth of the year to knot the score at two going into the break.

The Cougars’ four-goal flurry in the second really got them going, started by another go-ahead marker off the stick of Chase Del Colombo

Cobourg capitalized again on a failed clear by the Dukes and Quinte Red Devils graduate Isaac Tracze pounced on a rebound to score at exactly the halfway mark of the period to make the score 4-2.

The lead was further spread out with tallies a minute apart from Garrett Jones and Romaniuk to chase Riley from the net.

Gavin Godick sniped home his third of the season past Carter Nadon late in the frame to cut the deficit in half for Wellington.

Any hopes of a comeback were quickly nixed 11 seconds into the third from Romaniuk, who completed his hat trick with a snapper from the slot on Mason Raycroft, before Del Colombo and Briir Long rounded out the offensive output.

In the midst of the Cougars’ high-powered operation, the Dukes did find the net on a powerplay courtesy of Cobourg native Oliver Coyle, but it did nothing to change the end result.

Cobourg outshot Wellington 35-31 on the night, as the Dukes fall to 10-5-1-1.

HAWKS – 2 vs RAIDERS – 6

The Trenton Golden Hawks poor start contributed to a tough loss to the Western Conference’s Georgetown Raiders.

The visitors scored three unanswered goals in the first, including two shorthanded, in surging over the Hawks by a 6-2 final at the Duncan McDonald Community Gardens.

Sebastian Cabral scored two of those markers, including one where he cleanly stripped Trenton goaltender Hayden Jeffery and potted home an open-net tally.

Ethan Brassard got one back for Trenton with his sixth of the year on a low glove-side shot, but this night would ultimately belong to the Raiders.

Georgetown struck for three more in the third on backup Nolan Nicoll, working around Sterling Poff’s first OJHL goal.

Michael Marandola made 47 saves in a brilliant performance for Georgetown.

HAWKS – 3 @ HURRICANES – 7

The struggles continued for the Hawks the next day in Newmarket.
For the second straight game, Trenton fell behind 3-0 after the first period and couldn’t fully claw back, falling 7-3 to the Hurricanes at Ray Twinney Complex to drop its fifth in a row.
Logan Rivard, Reggie Taylor and Presley Allain (with two) put the Canes out in front before Evan Norris broke through shorthanded with his third of the season unassisted.
Aiden Lee restored the four-goal bulge with a shorty of his own for Newmarket, before Kaiden Harmon buried his fifth of the year on the same powerplay from Ryan Chamberlain and Charlie Gage.
Norris added his second of the game and fourth of the year in the third between two more ‘Canes markers, with Thomas Harnett and Brassard picking up assists.
Nolan Nicoll and Hayden Jeffery split the net for the second game in a row, combining for 24 saves as Trenton once again cleared the 40-shot threshold.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier on Tuesday, as the Hawks return to the ‘Hangar’ for a meeting with West Conference powerhouses the Leamington Flyers at 7:30 p.m.
PICTON PIRATES
