Weekly Recap: Belleville Sens continue chase for a Calder Cup playoff appearance following AHL All-Star break

After a hard-earned split of their two-game set with the Rochester Americans, the Belleville Senators commence their chase for a Calder Cup playoff appearance following the AHL All-Star break with a stretch of six straight games exclusively against North Division rivals beginning this week when they visit the Cleveland Monsters (Columbus Blue Jackets ) on Friday and Saturday.

Belleville currently sits in 7th place, tied with the Monsters and five points back of the Laval Rocket for the final playoff spot in the Division. In total, the Senators will match up a combined five times over the next two weeks with both those opponents.

Thursday, February 2: Belleville 5 vs Rochester 3

A pair of goals from Brennan Saulnier helped pace the Senators back into the win column with an emphatic 5-3 victory at CAA Arena over the Rochester Americans to begin the week. Jake Lucchini, Roby Jarventie and Dillon Heatherington also tallied for Belleville on the night, while Mads Sogaard turned aside an impressive 35-shots.

Saturday, February 4: Belleville 4  vs Rochester 5 (OT)

The Senators headed into the AHL All-Star break with a hard-fought point after they fell to the Amerks in a tightly contested 5-4 overtime loss. Belleville received goals from Jake Lucchini, John Quenneville, Angus Crookshank, and Scott Saboruin as Mads Sogaard made 25 saves throughout the evening.
