WEEKLY RECAP Share this Weekly Recap: Belleville Sens kickoff 2023 in impressive fashion January 9, 2023 An impressive start to the 2023 calendar year has the Belleville Senators continuing their climb up the North Division standings and on a current three-game winning streak. This week the club will resume their six-game homestand by hosting the Cleveland Monsters (Columbus Blue Jackets) on Friday and the Manitoba Moose (Winnipeg Jets) on Saturday. LAST WEEK’S RESULTS: Wednesday, Jan. 4: Belleville 5 at Rochester 1 An Egor Sokolov hat trick paced the Senators back into the win column ending a season-high four-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over the Rochester Americans. Viktor Lodin also recorded a career-high three assists, while Mads Søgaard made 29 saves in the win. Friday, Jan. 6: Belleville 3 at Syracuse 2 Viktor Lodin and Egor Sokolov scored in the shootout. At the same time, Mads Søgaard turned aside both attempts he faced in the skills competition as the Senators continued their winning ways defeating the Syracuse Crunch in a hard-fought shootout thriller. Saturday, Jan. 7: Belleville 6 vs Manitoba 1 Kevin Mandolese made 31 saves in his first start since early December, and Scott Sabourin scored twice as the Senators extended their winning streak to three straight with a dominant 6-1 victory over the Manitoba Moose as the organization hosted their annual Women in Hockey Night at CAA Arena.
