Weekly Recap: Belleville Sens return home for busy Family Day Weekend

February 13, 2023

After a quick road trip to the shores of Lake Erie, the Belleville Senators return to CAA Arena as they begin a four-game homestand over Family Day weekend, starting Wednesday night against the Syracuse Crunch (Tampa Bay Lightning) before they take on the Laval Rocket (Montreal Canadiens) on Friday, Saturday, before a Monday matinee.

Friday, February 10: Belleville 2 at Cleveland 6

A slow start and a frustrating night on the power play plagued the Belleville Senators as they quickly fell behind 5-0 after two periods of play at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Despite a pair of third-period tallies from Scott Sabourin and Jonathan Aspirot, the Senators could not close the gap any further, ultimately falling 6-2 in their return from the AHL All-Star break.

Saturday, February 11: Belleville 2  at Cleveland 3

Special teams were once again the difference on Saturday afternoon as the Cleveland Monsters struck three times with the man advantage en route to a 3-2 victory. In his first start since New Year’s Eve, Antoine Bibeau made 19 saves, while Cole Cassels and Angus Crookshank both found the back of the net for the Senators.
