WEEKLY RECAP Share this Weekly Recap: Belleville Sens set to battle Monsters in pair of critical contests April 3, 2023 Following a hectic three-in-three weekend, the Belleville Senators are set to resume their push for a Calder Cup Playoff berth this week as they play host to the Cleveland Monsters (Columbus Blue Jackets) on both Wednesday and Saturday for a set of contests that will undoubtedly have significant postseason implications. LAST WEEK’S RESULTS: Friday, March 31: Belleville 5 at Syracuse 6 (SO) The Belleville Senators began their week with a valiant effort which saw them continuously fight back throughout the night to earn a significant point in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Syracuse Crunch. Saturday, April 1: Belleville 4 vs Toronto 0 Leevi Meriläinen made 41 saves in his American Hockey League debut as the Belleville Senators shutout the Toronto Marlies 4-0 at a sold-out CAA Arena, while Dillon Heatherington, Roby Jarventie, Cole Cassels and Matthew Boucher all found the back of the net on the night. Sunday, April 2: Belleville 2 at Toronto 6 Despite goals from Matthew Wedman and Rourke Chartier, the Senators were unable to keep pace with the Marlies on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Coliseum as they concluded their three-in-three weekend with a 6-2 loss.
