WEEKLY RECAP

Weekly Recap: Belleville Sens set for road trip to Western Canada

December 12, 2022

Following a successful week with wins over both the Toronto Marlies and Laval Rocket, the Belleville Senators will continue their stretch of six consecutive road games against Canadian opponents as they head west for a two-game weekend set against the Manitoba Moose.

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS:

Wednesday, Dec.7: Belleville 4 at Toronto 2

A clutch performance from netminder Antoine Bibeau helped lead Belleville to a hard-fought victory to begin the week. After Toronto opened the scoring at 6:16 of the first period. The Senators quickly responded by building a 3-1 advantage through tallies from Viktor Lodin, Brennan Saulnier and Angus Crookshank. However, a late push from the Marlies saw them draw back to within a one on the power play before Jake Lucchini ended any hope of a Toronto comeback scoring into an empty net.

Friday, Dec. 9 : Belleville 2 at Laval 1 (SO)

An Egor Sokolov shootout winner and a stellar 32-save performance from netminder Mads Søgaard in his return to the lineup helped lift Belleville to their second consecutive road win. Centreman Rourke Chartier continued to stay in form, providing the Senators with their lone goal in regulation time.

Saturday, Dec. 10: Belleville 4 at Laval 7

A difficult start hindered the Senators as they quickly trailed 5-1 after the first period. In spite of the tough opening frame, Belleville would show their resilience throughout the remaining portions of the contest as they would continue to battle back. Offensively power forward Scott Sabourin led the way, scoring twice, while Rourke Chartier and Angus Crookshank also found the back of the net.
