WEEKLY RECAP Share this Weekly Recap: Belleville Sens welcome Rochester Americans for two game set January 30, 2023 Despite returning to the win column on Wednesday night with a 2-1 overtime victory against the Laval Rocket, the Belleville Senators could not make up any ground in their quest to make the Calder Cup playoffs as they fell twice to the Springfield Thunderbirds on the weekend. This week the Sens return home to host the Rochester Americans on Thursday and Saturday for 80’s Retro Night, presented by 95.5 Hits FM and Indigenous Communities Night, respectively. LAST WEEK’S RESULTS: Wednesday, Jan. 25: Belleville 2 at Laval 1 (OT) Kevin Mandolese made 33 saves, and Scott Sabourin notched the game-winner as they helped to lift the Belleville Senators back into the win column with an overtime victory over the Rocket to begin the week. Friday, Jan. 27: Belleville 1 at Springfield 5 Despite a goal from Angus Crookshank and 23 stops from Logan Flodell in relief, the Senators couldn’t catch up to the Thunderbirds, who paced themselves with a three-goal opening frame en route to the win. Saturday, Jan. 28: Belleville 1 at Springfield 6 The Senators concluded their road trip in difficult fashion as a vaunted Thunderbird power play that tallied four times with the man advantage, ensuring the weekend sweep with another dominant win.
