Weekly Report: Belleville Sens host Penguins ahead of Christmas break

December 19, 2022

Following a six-game road trip, the Belleville Senators are back in action at CAA Arena this week, when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday in a special Holiday Celebration game, presented by McDowell’s Your Independent Grocer. Following the contest, the Senators will enter their four-day Christmas break.

Saturday, Dec.17: Belleville 2 at Manitoba 6

Another tough start plagued the Belleville Senators finding themselves trailing 5-1 after two periods. However, they continued to push for a comeback as both Brennan Saulnier and Ridly Greig found the back of the net. In spite of those tallies, Belleville was unable to draw any closer.

Sunday, Dec. 18: Belleville 2 at Manitoba 3 (OTL)

After Manitoba opened the scoring at the 12:03 mark of the contest, Belleville broke through in the middle stanza as Egor Sokolov scored with a wrap-around effort before Matthew Wedman extended the visitors’ advantage to 2-1 after forty minutes. In the third, the Moose forced extra time when Simon Lundmark tied the game with under twelve minutes remaining in regulation, setting up for a Jeff Malott overtime winner for Manitoba.
