Graeme Clarke News Release Share this Five things to know about Samuel Bolduc March 17, 2026 It was a busy American Hockey League trade deadline for the Belleville Senators last week, bringing in four new players to help with the push to qualify for the Calder Cup Playoffs, as defenders Samuel Bolduc and Ryan O’Rourke, and forward Riley Kidney joined the organization in Hershey over the weekend. Over the next few days, we’ll get to learn more about the newest Belleville Sens, starting with the big, 25-year-old defenceman from Laval, Quebec, Samuel Bolduc. 1. Trading the sunny beaches of California for the shores of the Bay of Quinte Bolduc was acquired by the Senators from the Los Angeles Kings organization and has spent the majority of the year with the Kings’ AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, in Ontario, California. Bolduc says he “was on the way home from the beach” when he got the trade call from Belleville General Manager Matt Turek, and is happy to be able to play closer to his hometown, in Laval, Quebec. 2. Was a top-ranked prospect with the New York Islanders when he turned pro Prior to his time with the Kings and Reign, Bolduc was a top-ranked prospect in the New York Islanders organization. Originally drafted in the second round (57th overall) in 2019, Bolduc suited up in 52 NHL games for the Isles over six seasons with the organization. He also played out the rest of those seasons with the Islanders AHL affiliate in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and has twice been named to the AHL’s Atlantic Division All-Star Team (2020-21 and 2022-23), recording 115 points (33 goals, 82 assists) in 269 career AHL games. 3. Will add some steady two-way presence on the back-end for Belleville Bolduc describes himself as a two-way defender that likes to skate, move the puck, and generate offence where he can. Combine that with a strong hockey sense and size, at 6’4” and 220 pounds, Bolduc has already become a presence on the Sens blue line. Through two games, Bolduc has registered two assists and found some quick chemistry with budding young prospect Carter Yakemchuk, over Belleville’s pair of wins in Hershey last weekend. 4. Low-key living away from the rink When he’s not patrolling the back-end, Bolduc says he likes to keep things low-key away from the rink, like hitting the links in the offseason, taking walks with his girlfriend and mini golden doodle named Mollie, or catching up on Netflix. Bolduc says they’re pretty locked in to the latest season of “The Night Agent”, among others. 5. Eyes on a return to the National Hockey League Like all AHL players, Bolduc is looking to work his way back to the National Hockey League and says playing a consistent game will be the key to getting himself back to that level. He says through the final handful of games this season, he’s looking to “keep things simple and be reliable at both ends of the ice”, and see where things Bolduc and the Senators are back in action tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m., when they host the Cleveland Monsters to kick off a crucial five-game homestand. Single-game tickets for that matchup and all remaining home games in the 2025-26 season are now on sale via Ticketmaster or at the Belleville Sens Box Office located inside the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre.
