game day News Release Share this Gabriel Pizza Gameday Build-Up: Belleville looks to play spoiler versus Utica April 15, 2026 Wednesday, April 15, 2026, vs. Utica Comets (NHL Affiliate: New Jersey Devils) The Set Up Though the playoffs are not in the Belleville Senators’ future this year, they still have business to take care of on this final Wednesday of the season. Despite a pair of strong efforts against the North Division-leading Rocket in Laval last weekend, the Senators were officially eliminated from playoff contention following a 5–2 loss at Place Bell. Two first-period goals were all Belleville could muster, with Tyler Boucher and Graeme Clarke finding the back of the net. Jackson Parsons got the start, making 17 saves on 20 shots, while Mads Sogaard came in for the third period and stopped all nine shots he faced. The Senators can now play spoiler tonight against the Utica Comets, who are still battling for their playoff lives alongside the Rochester Americans. Utica, currently sitting sixth in the North Division with 65 points (27-31-6-5), which means any Belleville win tonight, would dash the Comets’ playoff hopes as well. Previous History Tonight marks the final meeting of the season, with the Senators entering the matchup holding a 4-5-0-0 record against the Comets. Their last meeting on April 4th saw Belleville shut out 4–0, as Nico Daws turned aside all 21 shots he faced. The Senators went 0-for-1 on the power play but were perfect on the penalty kill, going 4-for-4. Belleville holds a 27-23-5-0 all-time record against Utica and will look to close out this hard-fought divisional series on a positive note. Roster Notes One roster move followed Belleville’s weekend in Laval, as Hayden Hodgson was recalled to Ottawa on Sunday. Hodgson has appeared in 47 games for Belleville this season, recording six goals and five assists for 11 points. He has also played in nine NHL games with Ottawa this year but has yet to register a point. Full roster and lineup details will be available closer to puck drop on the Senators’ social media channels (@BellevilleSens). Who to Watch Fresh off a four-point weekend in Laval, Olle Lycksell continues to produce and now sits at 13 goals and 30 points on the season. The Swedish forward combines quick hands with a deceptive wrist shot that often catches goaltenders off guard, making him a constant offensive threat. He’s the kind of player who may not always grab headlines but consistently does the little things right and contributes in key moments. With the season nearing its end, Lycksell looks poised to stay productive and could be a difference-maker over the final three contests. Nathan Legare is starting to make his presence felt at a crucial point in the season, bringing timely offence to the Comets lineup. The Montreal, Quebec native has put together his strongest stretch of the year, recording seven points over his last eight games, including four goals. Originally selected in the third round in 2019, Legare is known for being a pest in tight areas while skating well and playing an honest, hardworking game. His recent run has provided a spark for the Comets as they continue their push for a playoff spot. If they’re going to stay in the hunt, they’ll need Legare to maintain this momentum and remain a contributor on the scoresheet.
