Weekly Recap: Sens secure points in three straight divisional games

The Belleville Senators secured early-season points in three straight North Division games this past weekend.

The emotional three-game-in-three-nights stretch saw the Sens drop consecutive 5-4 overtime decisions at CIBC Place, on Friday against the Laval Rocket (AHL Affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) and Saturday against the Toronto Marlies (AHL Affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs). They finished the weekend with a day trip to Toronto, where they earned a gutsy 4-2 win over the Marlies.

Friday, October 16, 2026: Belleville Senators – 4 vs Laval Rocket – 5 (OT)

The Senators didn’t have luck on their side during the club’s second annual “Bellevegas Night” on Friday. Despite a hat trick from Kasper Halttunen and 41 saves from Jonas Johansson, Belleville couldn’t hold off a Laval Rocket comeback and fell 5-4 in overtime. Shane Bowers also scored for Belleville, while Xavier Bourgault collected three assists, and Christian Kyrou and Phil Daoust added two helpers each.

Belleville’s offence got off to a great start again on Saturday getting goals from Oskar Pettersson and Ryan Suzuki inside the opening four minutes of the game, but would end up in a back and forth fight with the defending Calder Cup Champion Toronto Marlies on Saturday. Eskild Bakke Olsen scored his first career American Hockey League goal and Kasper Halttunen tallied midway through the third period to force overtime. The Sens would once again end up dropping a 5-4 decision in the extra period, despite a strong 27-save performance from Jackson Parsons in goal.
