Game Recap Share this Belleville Sens stumped by streaking Comets November 15, 2021 The Belleville Senators could not slow the streaking Utica Comets, on Sunday afternoon at CAA Arena, falling 4-1. Pontus Aberg scored Belleville’s lone tally of the evening, ending Utica’s shutout bid at 16:55 of the third. Kevin Mandolese turned aside 28 shots while making several clutch saves, helping to keep the Senators within scoring distance for large portions of the game, Akira Schmid made 30 saves, as Ryan Schmelzer, Reilly Walsh, Fabian Zetterlund, and A.J. Greer hit twine for the Comets, who are unbeaten on the season. On the transaction side of the ledger, Belleville continues to be without over a dozen regular players due to injury and COVID-19-related call ups to Ottawa with the roster in flux defensemen Cole Fraser became the latest edition of 2021-22 BSens to make his debut competing on a PTO. Head coach Troy Mann continues to praise his team’s compete level amidst the adversity. “From our perspective, I thought we competed from start to finish, there was no quit at three, nothing and were able to make it a game with the goalie out. We’ll go back to the drawing board and continue to work with the group that we have. We’ve got Utica at least five more times and hopefully by the time we play them again we’ll have a little bit more of our normal lineup.” The Belleville Senators’ penalty kill continues to be a major positive, remaining perfect on night and the week, haven’t not allowed a goal on eight attempts against over three games.
