game day Share this Game Day Build-Up: Senators finish Upstate New York swing with stop in Syracuse January 6, 2023 Presented by Carpenters Union Local 397 Jan.6/23 @ Syracuse Crunch (NHL Affiliate: Tampa Bay Lightning) The Set-Up: A couple of days after an emphatic win over the Americans in Rochester, the Belleville Senators will wrap up their four-game Upstate New York swing tonight in Syracuse tonight with some important mid-season points on the line. Belleville’s win on Wednesday snapped a season-long four-game losing streak and sets the Sens up to leapfrog the Crunch and finish the road trip in fourth place in the AHL’s north division standings. Syracuse, meanwhile, will be well-rested after having close to a week off following a pair of losses to Laval and will try to protect home ice, where they are 8-4-2-0 on the season. Previous History: This is the fourth time the Sens and Crunch will face off in their six-game season series, with Syracuse holding the advantage so far. Belleville is 1-2-0-0 against the crunch, with a 4-2 loss in Syracuse on November 11, a 5-4 loss at home on November 19, and a 6-4 home win on December 2 in their last meeting. Lifetime against the Crunch, the Sens are 11-15-2-1 and 2-9-2-1 at the Upstate Medical University Arena. Roster Notes: Troy Mann won’t make any changes to his roster after Wednesday’s victory. The top line of Egor Sokolov, Viktor Lodin and Ridly Greig will stay together again after combining for nine points against the Amerks. Mads Søgaard will start in goal again, backed up by Kevin Mandolese, while Antoine Bibeau, Alex Breton and Jack Dougherty are all healthy scratches. Injury Report: # Name Pos. Greig is now on a three-game point streak (five goals, one assist) and has jumped into 15th in the AHL’s rookie scoring race. Syracuse has lost back-to-back games after a four-game win streak and because of that, doesn’t have any players on significant point streaks. Former Wellington Dukes defender Declan Carlile does have points in back-to-back games (one goal, one assist), as does Daniel Walcott (two assists). Defenceman Darren Raddysh comes into the game sitting seventh in overall scoring in the AHL (35 points) and third in assists (26), and is also second in defensive scoring, goals and assists as well.
