WEEKLY RECAP: Belleville Sens climb up North Division standings with four-game winning streak

This week, the Belleville Senators (37-27-4-0) climb up the standings and back into a playoff position, sitting in fourth place in the American Hockey League’s North Division. The Senators’ perfect week saw the club stretch its winning streak to four straight with victories over the Hartford Wolf Pack, Rochester Americans, Utica Comets and Laval Rocket.

Wed, Apr. 13 – Belleville – 1 vs Hartford – 0 (HIGHLIGHTS)

A first period marker from Andrew Agozzino proved to be the difference-maker as Belleville was propelled by the strong play of netminder Filip Gustavsson. The latter made 25 saves to earn his second shutout of the season in the win. 

Fri, Apr. 15 – Belleville – 2 at Rochester – 1 (HIGHLIGHTS)

Showing their flair for the dramatic, Belleville held the Eastern Conference’s top power play unit to just 1/7 on the night. The Senators’ strong defensive play carried the team not only to a crucial win but back into a playoff position. 

 Sat, Apr. 16 – Belleville – 4 at Utica – 1 (HIGHLIGHTS)

Staying true to their identity, Belleville battled back from an early 1-0 deficit after the first period to earn a hard-fought road victory over the Eastern Conference-leading Utica Comets.

 Mon, Apr. 18 – Belleville 4– vs Laval – 1 (HIGHLIGHTS)

A pair of tallies from Matthew Wedman led the offensive charge while Mads Sogaard turned aside 45 shots as the Senators extended their winning streak to four with the decisive win.
