WEEKLY RECAP: Belleville Sens split busy week as the pursuit for the Calder Cup playoffs continues

The Belleville Senators’ (33-27-4-0) pursuit of the Calder Cup playoffs continued this week after a strong start that saw the club earn a pair of wins over the Eastern Conference-leading Utica Comets. The Senators dropped difficult decisions on Saturday and Monday to the Rochester Americans and Laval Rocket, respectively. With eight games remaining, the Sens sit slightly outside of a playoff position trailing the Amerks by just .004 percentage points for the final playoff spot in the Division.

Wed, Apr. 6 – Belleville – 4 at Utica – 3 (HIGHLIGHTS)

Belleville was led by Captain Logan Shaw, who scored twice, including the game-winner, as the Senators concluded their four-game road trip with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Eastern Conference-leading Utica Comets.

Fri, Apr. 8 – Belleville – 4 vs Utica – 1 (HIGHLIGHTS)

Paced by a fast start, the Senators returned to CAA Arena and promptly scored four unanswered times in the first 8:18 of the game, earning their second straight win over the Utica Comets.

Sat, Apr. 9 – Belleville – 2 vs Rochester – 6 (HIGHLIGHTS)

The Senators’ hit their first snag of the week on Saturday night as Belleville was unable to overcome a slow start paired with a strong opposition power-play, falling 6-2 to the Rochester Americans. 

Mon, Apr. 11 – Belleville – 1 vs Laval – 5 (HIGHLIGHTS)

As Head Coach Troy Mann put it, “it was a tale of two hockey games” for the Belleville Senators on Monday night at CAA Arena as the Laval Rocket rallied from a one-goal deficit scoring five unanswered times en route to a 5-1 win.
