Community News Release SENS IN SCHOOL Share this Belleville Sens staff serves up breakfast for students in support of HPE Learning Foundation May 28, 2026 Members of the Belleville Senators front office spent Tuesday morning giving back to the community, volunteering alongside the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation during a special breakfast program event at Holy Rosary Catholic School in Belleville. Staff members helped serve breakfast to students as part of the Food for Learning program, which provides nutritious meals and snacks to students across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. The Ontario Student Nutrition Program operates in every publicly funded school throughout Hastings and Prince Edward Counties, helping ensure students have access to healthy food each school day. “The joy of our student nutrition programs is the universal accessibility where every student, regardless of family circumstances or family income, is welcome to participate,” said Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation Executive Director Kellie Brace. “It is something that we celebrate on a daily basis and we’re so glad today, to be also celebrating our partnership with the Belleville Seantors.” For the Senators, the Wednesday trip to Holy Rosary was just another opportunity to get staff members involved in the community and to strengthen the partnership with the HPE Learning Foundation which has been a longtime beneficiary of the club’s 50/50 program. “Events like this are incredibly important for our staff because they give us an opportunity to connect directly with the community in a meaningful way,” said Belleville Senators Manager of Business Operations Ben Cochrane. “We’re proud to support organizations like the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, and being here in person helping serve breakfast really puts into perspective the impact these programs have on local families and students every day.” Tuesday’s event featured pancakes and fruit for participating students, and Brace highlighted the ongoing need for volunteers and community support to keep programs running. “It takes many, many hands to offer all of these meals,” Brace said. “We are really making sure that we provide as much as we can and as accessible as we can so that all students have the nourishment they need.” Brace also emphasized the importance of community partnerships, including support from the Belleville Senators organization. “It means a great deal and certainly makes a great impact on our programs,” she said. “A great appreciation to our supporters, to the Belleville Senators and all of our donors for helping to keep our kids fed.” Cochrane says the club was more than happy to take the time to support the program and its students, as the Sens continue strengthening those critical community relationships. “It was amazing to see the energy in the room this morning,” Cochrane added. “The students were excited, our staff were engaged, and you could really feel how important this program is to the students. As an organization, we always want to be more than just a hockey team — we want to be active contributors in the Bay of Quinte Region and continue to support those community partners that always support us.” Residents interested in supporting the Food for Learning program or volunteering can click here to learn more.
