Coach Bell’s Training Camp Notebook: NHL Camp Week 2

Ottawa Senators training camp has entered its second week, with players sharpening their skills at practice and the preseason schedule underway. The Sens dropped their first exhibition contest, 4-3, to Toronto at Canadian Tire Centre last weekend. And, as the NHL camp progresses, Belleville Head Coach Dave Bell and his staff are still in the Nation’s Capital, helping to support Travis Green and the NHL Senators, while also getting things in line for AHL camp, which opens next week.

Our daily check-in with Coach Bell continues this week, with the AHL Sens set to start trickling back into the Friendly City late this week and into the weekend.

Day 7 – Monday, September 22, 2025

With players getting a rest after last Sunday’s NHL preseason game, the AHL coaches spent the day Monday poring over game tape and breaking down players’ early performances. Coach Bell said he felt that many of the players “showed well” in their early performances, and he’s “starting to see a picture of what the training camp roster may look like in Belleville” (though nothing is guaranteed). He is also beginning to build some daily drills and schedules. Outside of that, the AHL season preparation continues as players and staff undergo additional league-mandated training.

The Senators are in Toronto Tuesday evening for the second preseason contest, so check back Wednesday for the latest instalment of Coach Bell’s Training Camp Notebook!
